Autumn in Alaska

The colors that I encountered during my first autumn in Alaska stunned me. The reds, yellows, and oranges filled the hills and underbrush in the mountains and seemed literally on fire with their sheer brilliance. The birch forests' perfect bright foilage took my breath away everytime I saw them. Having lived years in the Pacific Northwest, I couldn't have been happier to have finally seen a genuine change of seasons, however brief the fall lasted in the north.
