| Images of Mustafa Kemal "Ataturk," father of the modern Turkish state, are still as prevalent throughout Turkey as images of Lenin were throughout the old U.S.S.R. He is credited for singlehandedly turning Turkey to the West after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire following World War I. |
