Greenlanders in Seattle

Greenland's Home Rule Government was among many representated at the World Trade Organization's Third Ministerial Conference in Seattle, from Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 1999. During the conference, I had the good fortune of meeting Josef Motzfeldt, the government's vice premiere. Along with Kris Leander of the Leif Ericsson International Foundation, which eventually installed a Leif statue in south Greenland during July 2000, we met for an evening of slides and discussion on Greenland. Joining Mr. Motzfeldt were Peter Beck, director of Greenland's Ministry of Finance and Trade, and Carsten Pedersen, the ministry's head of section.
