Søndre Strømfjord

That's me, Rudy Brueggemann, on the crisp, clear morning of June 23, 1998, sailing down Søndre Strømfjord aboard the "Sarpik Ittuk" ferry. This was the maiden voyage of a KNI (the Home Rule ferry company) boat down the third-longest fjord in the world, starting in the town of Kangerlussuaq, the main airport for Greenland. Imagine towering rock walls, ice running to dead-calm water, and brilliant arctic light iluminating everything in yellow, orange, and gold light. Now imagine this for the 185-kilometer distance to the ocean. Please come along for the ride.
