This past week, on January 21, 2026, the leader of the United States threatened to have the U.S. armed forces take military control over Greenland during his widely viewed address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. During his rambling speech, he told the attendees, and the world media and all of Europe and countries like Russia and China, he would not use force. He also made clear that the full threat of using U.S. military was an option that could possibly be used if the U.S. acquisition of the Home Rule Territory failed through other means.
To those threats, I want to say to my personal friends in Greenland and Denmark, and all the all the people in both lands, we in the United States, the people of the United States, are your friends. We send love.
To show this, I took these photos this morning (January 25, 2026) in Portland, Oregon, at Nordia House, a cultural center celebrating the ties between Nordic nations and peoples and the USA.
Everyone who I met shared warm words for all the people in Greenland and Denmark. We the people will never sever our friendship. We the people are not spoken for by the increasingly dangerous man who is leading my country to a dark place.
To that darkness, I shine light. That light is the love you see here from the people, some who have relatives in Denmark and others who will be visiting.
