Oregon remains one of my favorite places on earth. It offers incredibly diverse geology, from high deserts, to temperate lush deciduous forest, to a string of volcanic peaks that lines the backbone of the Cascades, to beaches that at times defy words. I moved here in 1983 to attend college, and my love affair with Oregon never ended, even when I moved away in 1987 and again in 1995. I returned to the state in late September 2014, once more calling Portland my home. Unfortunately, the escalating costs of living that I left behind in Seattle that year caught up to me in Portland. I remain uncertain if I can sustain these changes, giving the trends seen in most West Coast cities. The gallery mostly includes pictures taken outside of Portland, from the coast to the high desert to the rolling wheat hills in the northeast corner of the state.
